Anyone remember the name of the horse, ridden by Willie Carson over 5 and 6 furlongs, that began the season in shit handicaps and ended up running and winning Grp 2 and 1 races.
It's form was something like 1111111111111111111112111121111

Sarge, you are right about the Snail. Think a lot off here also used to back it regularly as well. Something to keep us all occupied with for half an hour on a Tuesday affternokn. IRRC it usually finished last or on the odd epic adventure 2nd last?
The Snail and Cowdenbeath FC have got more than they know in common.

Also Team Spirit, which won the national in '64, the same day we stuffed the mancs at Hillsborough in the semi. My dad drove us up to the game and put a fiver on it on account of the superb team spirit our lads had in that great cup run. The odds were 18/1 so a £90 return, not bad for '64.

My favourite horse is one from the 70's, had just one eye and went by the name of Belper.
I won big on him at least two or three times. I seem to remember that two of the wins were at Brighton which because of the direction and curvature of the track it suited Belpers disability.
I think think I must have got a tip beacuse the first couple of races the odds were around 20-1.
I'll never forget Belper.

soldo it opened at 33's on the morning and I had some 40's earlier in that week Which was a great price.
I had also backed it at 20's for the Gold Cup after its RSA win So I fucked myself a bit as well

Interestingly that second Timeform rated jumper, Flyingbolt was a stable mate of Arkle, some people say he was just as good as Arkle but we'll never know as Tom Dreaper the trainer wouldn't allow them to race together
